You've Been Warned...

In the spirit of Halloween and all things scary…it is time to know about MRSA.
What is MRSA?
Short for Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureu, it is a staph infection that is resilient to many of the more common antibiotics. MRSA can be transferred from person to person contact; therefore the CDC recommends a general good hygiene approach consisting of:
• Keep your hands clean by washing with soap and water or using an alcohol based hand rub.
• Keep cuts and scrapes clean and covered with a bandage until healed.
• Avoid contact with other people’s wounds or bandages.
• Avoid sharing personal items such as towels or razors.
Purell and Gojo who are licensed by Johnson & Johnson are working together to bring you new products all the time to prevent harmful agents that are produced without immediate resolve.
Some of the products that you may want to consider in order to help ensure that you and your family do not become exposed to these potentially deadly bacteria are:
1. Hand Wipes – Individually Wrapped and able to go where you go.
2. 2 oz. Bottles – Easy to carry in a purse or pocket.
3. Dispensers- Motion Touch Free dispensers so you are never without.
4. Bottles- Personal Pump Bottles to keep in your drawer or on your countertop.
MRSA is predominantly spread in hospitals and healthcare facilities. MRSA can also be
acquired outside of healthcare facilities. MRSA infections that are acquired by persons who have not been recently hospitalized or had a medical procedure are known as CA-MRSA infections. MRSA infections in the community are usually manifested as skin infections, such as pimples, boils and occur in otherwise healthy people.
If you are someone who works in a medical facility, or if you have a love one who you may be visiting, or if you have a planned visit…Purell has product that can help you too. The line of hand sanitizer that is compliant with CHG, Latex, Nitrile, and Vinyl gloves are what you need to give you an extra line of defense. Some products to try are:
· Pump Bottle with Dermaglycerin
· Personal Bottle with Dermaglycerin
· .5 fl.oz. Bottle with Dermaglycerin
All of these products meet CDC guidelines and JCAHO compliance standards and they could possibly save your life.
Remember, if you work in a restaurant, people are not only receiving your germs, but they are ingesting them. MRSA is transferred from one person to another person through contact. If a cut is present, there is an increased chance of infection. According to the CDC, hand hygiene is an effective preventative measure that can be taken. Therefore, it would benefit everyone if you at least tried some of the Food Code Compliant hand sanitizers that are on the market.
Purell and GoJo Hand Sanitizer are able to kill 99% of germs in 15 seconds. If 15 seconds could be the difference between you or a loved one contracting a deadly bacterium, why would you not have the tools to protect yourself? Think of your health and what is important to you…when you go to purchase your Purell or GoJo.
Therefore, it would benefit everyone if you at least tried some of the Food Code Compliant hand sanitizers that are on the market.
